An International Driving License is a vital document that grants its holder the privilege to operate a private motor vehicle in any country recognizing it, in adherence to the Vienna Convention of 1968. In Pakistan, these licenses are issued to foreign travelers.
For residents of the Punjab province, particularly those intending to travel to countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), obtaining an international driving license is conveniently facilitated through visits to city traffic police offices or police khidmat markaz establishments located throughout the province.
To secure this license, applicants must possess valid national driving licenses and valid visas in their passports. This international driving license serves as an indispensable asset for frequent travelers and individuals engaged in transportation-related activities overseas. Fortunately, the process of obtaining an international driving license in Pakistan is streamlined, particularly if you already hold a state-issued driving license. To guide you through this process, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for an international driving license in Pakistan.
Necessary Documents:
The following documents are necessary when applying for an International Driving License:
- An attested copy of your CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card)
- An attested copy of a valid Driving License (issued by the licensing authority)
- Two attested passport-sized photographs (one from the front and one from the back)
- An attested copy of your Passport (which must be valid for at least 6 months with a visa affixed for the country you intend to visit)
- A court fee ticket of Rs. 22
- A ticket of Rs. 60
- An amount of Rs. 180, which should be deposited in the branch after passing the test on the STR form.
