Once again, WhatsApp is stepping up to address a significant issue that users encounter when sharing images— the limitation of sending pictures without high-quality resolution. Excitingly, the latest update enables the sharing of HD photos. Delve into the specifics below.
WhatsApp Now Supports Sharing High-Definition Images
WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that enables you to send high-quality photos with significantly less compression. This means you no longer have to rely on other platforms like Google Drive or WeTransfer to share your high-resolution images. So, if you have stunning pictures from your recent trip, you can simply use WhatsApp!
While this feature has been in development for some time, it has finally arrived. Until now, regardless of the image quality, WhatsApp heavily compressed photos for faster and easier transfers. Fortunately, that’s about to change!
It turns out that when you send photos on WhatsApp, they will be sent in standard quality by default. However, if you want to send them in higher HD quality, you’ll need to manually enable the HD option each time you send a photo. This HD option will pop up alongside the editing tools when you’re about to send something to someone. It might feel a bit inconvenient, but at least we have the choice to make things better! Plus, if you receive a low-quality image due to reasons like a weak network, you’ll have the option to upgrade it to HD.
The good news is that the capability to send photos in HD quality will soon be available to Android and iOS users all around the world over the next few weeks. And while this feature is currently limited to photos, it’s in the pipeline to also include videos in the future. So, that’s a relief!
